The safety and accessibility research program will be an ongoing initiative. The program will keep adding cities to its scope. The basic idea will be to conduct safety audits of the identified cities and then bring the report in public domain for further action. The UN mandated safer cities for women guidelines will be the standard reference for the safety audits.

Some of the cities expected to be taken up in the first leg are-

Delhi & NCR Mumbai Bengaluru Kolkata Chennai

The research will try to encompass the following criteria with respect to women in urban-scape

  • Demonstrable improvement in accessibility as fundamental aspects of city living;
  • Build inclusive cityscape environment and public spaces;
  • Enhance transport and related infrastructure;
  • Innovation in information and communication, including Information and Communication Technologies (ICT);
  • Proper public facilities and services;
  • Commitment to continued improvements in accessibility in a sustainable way;

As such, the research shall cover accessibility in everyday lives of city residents and with special focus on the accessibility and safety of women workforce living in the cities. However, the research will include newer parameters on a periodic basis, the findings will be dynamic in nature.
